Tourism is a highly dynamic, continuously expanding and evolving phenomenon. Tourism industries therefore need managing. Tourism-specific strategic planning, market research, e-commerce, project management, among other business management functions are therefore becoming increasingly more significant. Moreover, due to the global context of tourism, these functions also demand an international and intercultural approach if they are to be applied successfully.

If you strive to become a tourism manager who can operate effectively in an international and cross-cultural business environment the Master programme “International Tourism Management” is the right study programme for you. It is designed to enable you to define, investigate, analyse, evaluate and respond to strategic issues of the international tourism and hospitality business.

Überblick über den Studiengang


“International Tourism Management” is a full-time Master programme which comprises three semesters (90 Credits) and is entirely taught in English. In the first semester you will be introduced to the fundamental issues of International Tourism Studies, Research methods as well as International Business. Additionally, you will participate in a Business Simulation game to assess your level of subject knowledge. In the second semester you will deepen your knowledge in International Tourism Studies focusing on intercultural issues, sustainability, and marketing. In addition, you will participate in an exciting tourism project with an international excursion to give you first-hand, practical insights into the tourism industry and its challenges. In the third and final semester you will complete your studies with the Master Thesis which requires in-depth empirical research in your chosen area of expertise.

Zugangsvoraussetzungen & Studiengebühren


  • An excellent or good first degree in Business Studies or in a business- related discipline (210 ECTS and a German average grade of 2.5 or better) 
  • At least 50% of the Bachelor courses need to be related to business (Management, Economics, Finance, Controlling, Marketing)
  • High proficiency in English

  • Application deadline: July 15th Non-German first-degree applicants have to apply to “Studienkolleg Konstanz” first (application deadline: June 1st).
